In addition to personal chilling, this unit helps keep humidity in check by dehumidifying up to 30 pints of moisture a day. Conveniently, a “Bucket Full” indicator light with auto-shutoff protects against overflowing. Given the laws of thermodynamics and that this does not vent outside or to a different room - running this in an enclosed space can only result in that space becoming hotter. The cooling effect is only for the area immediately in front of the unit, while the area behind the unit is where the heat is expelled. That is why it is not advertised for cooling rooms - only for cooling "personal space". If you can figure out a way to vent it outside the room, then it could cool the room - but it does have very low BTU's so won't be very effective at it.

This product is an air cooler not an air conditioner - It is meant to supplement cooling in the room. It will definitely help to cool your small space, however, it is not meant to work as an air conditioner. Air coolers reduce the temperature of the air it is blowing out, however, because they do not have compressors, they are not able to reduce the temperature of an entire room. This unit gives off some hot air in the back, and is not best used in a tight enclosed space like that. What a lot of truckers use is a portable air conditioner, and just exhaust it either through the window or the floor. The model most popular with truckers is the Edgestar AP8000W.
