There are seven (7) wash settings to help clean your dishes: normal, intensive, economy, rinse, rapid wash, glass, and soak. The durable stainless steel spray arm also ensures that those hard-to-reach spots won't be missed, while the automatic rinse agent and detergent dispenser allow you to leave the dishwasher to clean while you can do other things. Very Nice 18" dishwasher
We replaced a 15 year old Kelvenator 18" dishwasher with this one.The top rack is deeper which is nice for taller glasses, pot and pans. The bottom rack is definitely smaller than our previous model we owned. The tines are bent in such a way that it's hard to fit in deeper cereaI bowls or as many. It does fine with dishes. Washing times are much longer but this one reheats the water as it goes and doesn't use as much water so it's a horse apiece for energy saving. It's quieter. It has a water softener if you have hard water. We do like the dual spray head for top and bottom rack. It has a filter that can be checked and emptied so stuff doesn't end up back on the dishes. The manual will not tell you the wash times #up to 2 1/2 hrs# or what to do with the water softener. You will need to familiarize yourself with the pictures of the wash cycles so keep the manual nearby until you do.

Could you please give me as much detail as possible of what exactly IS the water softeneing system in this dishwasher, how does it work, are their cartrdiges to be changed? Does it run on electricity? Is it a membrane? Please give technical details so I can understand how good it is. Thanks.

You will need water softener salt; this can be purchased in grocery stores and some hardware stores. There are no cartridges to be changed and it does not use any electricity. The water mixes in with the salt to remove the calcium present in hard water.1 of 1
