    Danby 5.8 Cu. Ft. Steel Kegerator 5 5 1 1
Danby 5.8 cu ft Kegerator The Danby DKC5811BSL 5.8 cu ft kegerator is a very good unit for the price. Plus it is American made! That is not the case for the majority of inexpensive kegerators out there. That being said, since this is an inexpensive model there is good and bad. First let’s go with the good: A 5lb aluminum CO2 tank, dual gage regulator showing tank pressure and beer line pressure, enough room to hold two 1/6 kegs without a problem, no problems holding temperature of the keg at 36 degrees, externally mounted CO2 tank to extend the refill time of your CO2, includes a good D type coupler to connect the keg, it looks good. Now for the bad: This is a cold plate refrigerator, so the temperature is constantly fluctuating and a circulation fan is needed (I used a 120mm computer fan with 4 screws to hold up off of bottom and an old 6v cell phone charger to power with the line run through the same hole as CO2 line), Some type of tower cooler is needed otherwise your first beer poured will be foam if sitting unused for a while (I used an old 3 inch computer fan I mounted to a box that I laid in the bottom of kegerator with hose going up into tower), beer line is only 5ft long…which is not a problem for most beers but light beers requiring higher pressures (greater than say 12psi) may cause foam because of speed of flow…a longer beer line would solve that, the pressure CO2 line comes with plastic clamps…need to replace with metal to ensure no CO2 leaks, the 17 inch ¼ or ½ oversized coors/miller kegs do not fit (kegerator is only 16¾ inches deep). Besides a couple of these small modifications needed it is a very good kegerator! May 25, 2013

No this unit will not hold the Coors or Miller over sized kegs. This unit is only 16 3/4 inches deep and those over sized kegs are 17 inches wide. This unit will hold a standard half 15.5 gallon keg, a standard quarter 7.75 gallon keg or a couple of the sixth 5 gallon kegs.

In order to cool the DKC5811BSL the back of the unit must be open to circulation. With the under the counter models the circulation is able to get fresh air from the front of the unit. The DKC5811BSL is not one of those models.

With a freestanding kegerator, you need to leave 2 to 3 inches on each side, as well as 3 to 4 inches in the rear of the unit for proper ventilation. A built in, or under counter, kegerator can be installed directly into existing cabinetry without the need for the ventilation space because the unit will vent out of the front. A free standing unit vents in the rear, thus the need for the extra ventilation space.

No, Miller and Coors uses the over sized 17" kegs and the internal depth of this unit is only 16 3/4. Plus 2 of the 1/4 kegs will not fit anyhow. The 1/4 kegs are close to 14 inches high each and the internal height of this kegerator is barely over 28 inches...there would be no room for a coupler. However 2 home brew or 2 of the 1/6 kegs will fit fine.

    Hello,

Yes! The unit will hold two miller 1/4 kegs. I own this unit my self and its a big box. I use it as a single keg dispenser but if you are interested in making it a dual tap you can. We have the box and the tools to convert it. Give us at call at 1-800-297-6076 Mon - Fri 8-5 Central time.

No it does not. It will need either a blower for a tower cooler, or in my case I used a 120mm fan with 4 bolts for support that I put on the bottom of the unit powered by an old 6 volt cell phone charger that I ran through the hole for the CO2 to circulate air inside the unit, plus a 3 inch fan that I mounted into an old plastic box with a hose run up to the tower to cool it. You can also do a search on ebay for tower coolers using a blower that is kind of a all in one deal if you want to go the easy route.

No, this unit is not equipped with a tower-specific cooling system. However, we have not seen any reports of performance issues related to the pour quality or tower with this unit.
