Danby Energy Star 60 Pint Portable Dehumidifier This is our second Danby. The first one broke after 2 years and 1 month use. Reason we bought a Danby again is the wonderful customer service that Danby provided. Because of that we did not hesitate to purchase another Danby. We use our humidifier in a finished basement and it works very well. The noisel evel is not bad and we never noticed a big difference in our electric bill. I can highly recommend this product . Danby Energy Star 60 Pint Portable Dehumidifier I read all of the reviews before making my purchase and most of the complaints had to do with the noise from the fan. The fact that the fan is consistently running or on, means that you will hear that fan noise whenever the dehumidifier is in use; but this is only because the dehumidifier moves a large volume of air and this is what is needed to keep the humidity low. The fan noise is not a problem for me. This is a great product thus far as it does the job! December 15, 2013
Workhorse with odd manners I bought this unit with some misgivings, because of mixed reviews. I found it easy to set up, good instructions, liked the convenience of the included drain hose, and ability to adapt to my existing short garden hose (to the sump pump). Basement humidity was high (close to 70%), while temperature was in the 60's, when I set it up and turned it on. Much louder than the one I had before, but it WRUNG out the air in no time. Most units, I'd see the water drip out of the hose, this one it was almost a stream. Downsides: Not quiet; dehumidification function seems to need to be reset, once it has hit the set level. (Seems as though the fan runs - constantly - but you need to move the setting buttons up then down to get the compressor to kick in again.) Overall, I'm okay with it, but recognize that it needs to have attention paid to it. November 26, 2013
Didn't last a year! I had three major brand dehumidifiers die inside their one year warranty, so decided to try the Danby which carried a two year warranty. It died at eleven months. It could not be repaired, so I am waiting to see what Danby will do for me. With the Danby 60, my summer time electric bill increased $20/month compared to similar size competitors set to the same humidity control level. November 26, 2013
