EdgeStar 148 Can Stainless Steel Beverage Cooler
The unit arrived at my home in sturdy packaging with Styrofoam on all sides in the box. Unpacked it look great. You have to put the door handle on (two screws); door came hinged on right side, which was OK with me. Clearance required is only a 1/5 inch on either side and 2/5 inch in the back. The manual was very clear on first steps: let the compressor fluids settle by standing upright for 24 hours, level it, start up empty to cool the box then fill up with drinks and cool. I did those things and the set temperature of 43 degrees (35 degrees is the minimum allowed) with about a 1/3 full of room temperature drinks was reached in about 2 hours. The glass shelves have holes in them to allow for circulation. The unit is very quiet; what I mostly hear is the fan and it is not loud. This unit replaces a 12 year old Marvel unit which was much louder. Shelves were arranged to accept upright 12 oz cans and small water bottles on the top shelf. I chose to lower the top tray to put in long neck glass beer bottles. Doing that still left a gap that permits 12 oz cans to be stored upright on the shelf below it. Some reviewers complained about having to unscrew a holding nub to get the shelf out. You don't need those nubs if you don't want the shelves to slide out and not tip. When I moved the shelf, there was no hole to put the nub into so only fixed locations allow slide-out shelves. The bottom of the unit has grooves so that wine bottles can be placed there. Note though only Chardonnay type bottles will fit. The long neck Riesling bottles need to be placed on any of the other shelves. The shorter length on the bottom is due the part of the mechanical systems bulging inward about 4 inches. Since this is a first look review, I'll update this later if I encounter any issues. So far this appears to be a very good replacement for my old unit.

I am completely satisfied with my purchase of the EdgeStar 148 Can Stainless Steel Beverage Cooler. It is just as the description and pictures indicated. The only problem (small) was the screws for the handle were hidden behind the insulation strip on the door and the head of one of the screws was not properly formed requiring some modification on our part. Otherwise, this refrigerator is a great purchase.

This is a great product at the midlevel cost. It is quiet, attractive in our kitchen, and works great when packed full of beverages. The installation of the door handle is not so simple. Instructions tell you to place phillips screws.....they are already in place. Also repositioning shelves is somewhat arduous. Otherwise, love this refrigerator.

Satisfied with the EdgeStar
We are very satisfied with the EdgeStar 148 can beverage cooler. It keeps the drinks very cold like your advertisement said. We were giving it sometime before writing a review to make sure that it's working right. When it was delivered we inspected it and the the grill was bent in front on the bottom. It took some time to straighten it out, we got most of it straighten out. You can't really see it was messed up too much. It fit right in place the undercounter measurements were right. It runs good and keeps the drinks very cold set at 45 degrees. We are very pleased... Thank you, Compact Appliance / LivingDirect
PS: We would suggest that the bent grills are from lifting the beverage cooler in front and need a warning on the front of the box not to lift here. That is probably the cause of the bent grills...
