The EdgeStar portable pink ice maker with electronic controls allows you to make ice anywhere you can plug it in. This ice maker is easy to use: just pour water into the internal reservoir, plug this portable ice maker in to any 110 volt outlet, and have ice within six (6) to ten (10) minutes. This countertop ice maker produces up to 28 pounds of ice per day, and stores up to 2 pounds of ice in an insulated storage compartment. This makes it easier to store and save up ice for entertaining guests or throwing parties, so no one will have to wait for the ice to be made to enjoy cold beverages. No drain is required for this ice maker, and you can select the ice cube size out of three (3) options. Great Ice Maker! This ice maker is so easy to use and it spits out ice very quickly. It doesn't make a ton each time, but it fills up very fast. I use filtered water and it makes great tasting, soft ice cubes. It is a little bit heavy, but it fits great on my countertop. Overall, I think this is an excellent product and was a great purchase! I Love this machine. Yes this product is larger than I expected and it takes up room. Someone asked me why I didn't get the icemaker on my refridgerator. Well at the time, I knew people who didn't use their icemakers anymore because they didn't like the smell of the ice or the machine stopped working. I like the icemaker because I can keep it clean and change the water my self. And it makes ice pretty fast! I have one problem with the drainage hose, it is a little work trying to drain the water. It would be wonderful if a rubber connector hose was made available for drainage. Right now I use a little bowl and let the water shot out into it. All in all this is very nice for the price. Buyer's Guide:

How much ice will a portable unit produce?
Portable ice makers will make and hold up to 2 ½ pounds of ice at one time. (For reference – a typical bag of ice from a convenience store is around 7 pounds) Simply open the top of the unit and fill the water reservoir with a gallon of water. Within 15 minutes or so you will see the first cubes of ice produced. It may take 60 to 90 minutes for the full batch of ice to be produced. The unit should make around 30 pounds of ice a day if you continuously empty the ice and refill the water.

What type of ice does it make?
The unit will produce a bullet shaped ice cube with a hole in the middle. The unit will produce three different sized cubes – small, medium and large. The large cube is very close in size to a standard cube from a typical home ice tray. The ice produced is not “clear ice.”

Does the unit require a drain?
No, once the ice is made it will melt over time as the holding basket is not a freezer. The water produced from the melting ice will flow back into the water reservoir so the unit may use it again to make more ice.

Can these portable icemakers produce crushed or flake style ice?
No, they will not. We suggest purchasing one of the electric or manual ice crushers offered on our website. The portable icemaker and ice crusher will provide you with a cost effective way to create crushed ice.

Will a portable ice maker accept a permanent water line?
No, you will need to manually add water to the unit.
