    Haier 8.8 Lbs. Hand Washer 5 5 4 4
Working well after 3+ years I purchased this machine in Dec. 2009 after moving into an apartment with no laundry facilities. I have it in a hallway closet adjacent to my bathroom, and have extended the inlet/outlet hoses to allow me to hook up to my bathroom sink without moving the unit around. It has performed well for 3 years, and I don't miss having a larger washer. It is generally quiet, but not quiet enough that I run it while I am sleeping in an adjacent bedroom. I have an earlier version of the model that has 4 water levels and 6 different wash settings. In all, a great purchase. I'm considering buying one for my tenant's unit, too! March 12, 2013
Well worth it. This washer was a smart move on my part. It is small enough to fit in my RV, which is where I live right now, and saves me time and money. Running to the laundry mat is not easy seeing as how it is 30 min.s from where I live. My clothes come out looking and smelling clean, I couldn't be happier. Thanks to the Haier washer. Love my HAIER HLP23E Let me first say that this machine actually holds over 8 lbs. of wash, not 5 lbs. as stated. Have been using this machine 3 times a week, doing at least 5 loads a week, for the past 8 months, and could not be more satisfied. My clothes come out extremely clean, there is almost no sound from the machine when it is running, and the 3 water level choices are very convenient. I wish it would have come with swivel wheels, but I purchased a square dolly with swivel wheels for easy movement which solved that problem. I set a timer to go off 14 minutes before the end of the total cycle so that I can add fabric softener to the last rinse. I originally had the Haier HLP21E which was the 1 cubic foot-6 lb. capacity model, and upgraded to this larger model. Haier products go far and beyond expectations and I am a diehard Haier fan. Thank you Haier for making laundry day a pleasent experience!! March 29, 2011
Mini washer - How did I ever get by without it?! As an apartment dweller, with no space for a regular sized clothes washer, I had endured the stress of constantly accumulating and hauling my laundry to the local laundromat. I did not like the endless 'go-no go' decisions -- running out of clean clothes?/enough to make the trip worthwhile?, the general chaos of finding unused machines, the variable mood of the staff and other washers. So I often opted for the expense of having my laundry done, but then I was bothered by missing items. I also always questioned whether my clothes were fully cleaned in the laundromat's short cycles and low volume of rinse water. Haier's mini automatic washer solved all of my laundry problems. It fits between my sink and tub -- in less than 20" of space! The pulsating action gets my clothes very clean, and the spinner effectively removes most of the water. I wash several pairs of jeans, or six-eight polos but -- it is a mini: I wash my queen/regular sheets one-at-a-time with a towel, and wash bath sheets one-at-a-time also. I do not consider this a drawback of the washer: it's half the size of a regular washer -- so it only has half of its capacity! A few buyers express considerable shock that the load is not fullsized! Their upset is baffling, to say the least! Doing twice as many loads is a small price to pay for the incredible convenience of doing my laundry at home. The washer has a quick-snap connector that fits to the sink faucet, and it works quite well -- but you can purchase a bypass connector at a well-stocked hardware store that will allow you to use the sink while the washer is running. An under-sink connector is another option, but requires some plumbing. Haier also makes a mini-dryer that uses a 120V house electrical supply, which I bought and highly recommend - but be aware that the dryer requires venting. The washer runs quietly -- but sometimes does a noisy rock-and-roll to rebalance the load. It may give up and require a rescue: just open the top and redistribute the wet clothes. Other times it rebalances itself and hums back into its cycle. The Haier mini-dryer is also relatively quiet -- and very effective. Many of us develop a real affection for our Haier mini washer. I have had guests beg me to demonstrate how it works -- and crowd into the bathroom to watch! July 27, 2010

I need to purchase one of these machine but having trouble choosing one. I wiil be using it for only 2 people. My three year old son and I. I know the litle one comes with stanless steel tub and the bigger one is white plastic. Isn't stanless still better than plastic?

The main difference between the 1 & 1.46 cubic foot washer is the size of each load. For a household with two people, the bigger size would be recommended so you can wash more clothes and use less water and energy.

While the stainless steel wash tub is an added benefit for the 1 cu. ft. model, it does not mean that the unit is more durable or better than the 1.46 cu. ft. model. Both models are durable and can stand up well to even the toughest loads.

    Hello,
I purchased this washer but the manual is hard to understand. Which direction does the bottom cover/noise plate go?
Also, the manual say you can reroute the drain pipe but does not provide any instructions on how that is actually done. If you can provide steps and pictures, that would be great.
    Thank you,

    Hi,

The bottom piece should be aligned with the correct panel holes, so you'll know which way it goes by seeing if they line up or not. As for the drain pipe, you should just be able to detach it from its current place and hook it up where you'd like it. Hope that helps!

    Thanks!

Does the HLP 23 E have a fabric softener/liquid detergent dispenser?

How does "fuzzy control" control work?

Does it come with casters for easy moving?

Does it have hot & cold hoses or just one intake hose?

Is it fully automatic "hand" washer scares me, why is this a "hand" washer and the other Haier washers are not referred to as such?

Can you please describe the alarms and shut off and are there options to individualizing to suit my own needs preferences?

I've only heard bad things about Haier customer service through lots of unbiased sources. It scares me. My other concern is that from my reading up on Haier portable washers, they either work well or fail miserably. If they do fail, there seems to be no way of fixing/replacing the washer, due to the horrid customer service issues. I like the Haier portable washer and all the features, but am considering other brands because of the above concerns.

    Hi,

Stainless steel won't rust and stain your clothes and that's the major perk of it.

This unit recommends HE detergent -- just use a little bit so the suds don't get out of control.

It does not come with casters.

There is just one hose since it connects to the sink.

The term, "Hand Washer" is used to mean delicate.

This unit does not have scheduling capabilities.

You should be able to run this without any special permits. You can just drain the unit into your sink, and that should be fine.
