This is truly an amazing product. My wife insisted that if we get an under-counter ice machine that it needs to be nugget ice or what Ice-O-Matic calls Pearl ice. It is by far the best ice I have ever experienced. The machine makes it extremely fast, literally within minutes of plugging it in and keeps making it continuously until the bin is full. I really question whether or not it could make 85 pounds of ice per day, but now I am convinced. The workmanship is excellent. Beautiful stainless steel throughout the product. It's great to see a product made in the USA that clearly exceeds the quality of the various products coming from overseas.
The only reason I gave the product four stars for product quality was because of a failure after using the product for just two weeks. The ice machine stopped working, due to a sensor which failed. Ice-O-Matic had arranged for a technician to be in our home within 24 hours of us calling. He found the problem and has the part on order. All products run the risk of failure, but what separates the great companies from the mediocre is how they handle such problems. For this I give Ice-O-Matic five stars.
I realize this is one of the most expensive undercounter ice machines on the market, but I would have to say it is the best value by far. If you are looking for a quality machine, that makes the best ice in the world, buy the Ice-O-Matic 85 lb. Nugget Ice Machine. You will be disappointed.

Awesome Ice Maker
We are so pleased with the Ice-O-Matic nugget ice machine. It started making ice immediately. The ice is just perfect. Very much like Sonic ice, which is exactly what we wanted. We used the drain pump off of our old ice maker and it is all working great. No complaints. The adjustable legs came in handy so that we could adjust the height to our counter. The machine is very quiet. I can hear the ice dropping, but it is definitely not loud, especially compared to our last ice maker. Also, the shipping was very speedy. I ordered it on a Sunday, and received it on Tuesday. Guess it helps I'm i the same state it shipped from, but I still thought that was very quick.

If you can afford it buy it!
We first had a Kenmore, lasted two years, worked well but had to be reset, Then we purchased 2 Danby, lasted only 3 weeks. Now we decided to go all out and get a commercial ice maker. This ice maker is built so much better than all the others we have looked at. All stainless steel. we hooked it up in five minutes and five minutes later there was ice. It cuts off automatically and makes ice so fast our company can't out use this ice maker. I wanted to see how long the ice would stay frozen if I turned off the unit. after 5 days the ice bin was still full. The others would be gone in a day. Hands down the best ice maker ever, And last but not least everyone loves the "Sonic" ice it produces.

Happy Customer
This unit replaced our 4yr old Kenmore. I did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before settling on the Ice-O-Matic. My only complaint is that it had a leaky fitting inside the unit so I had to take the back off to fix it. Otherwise, the sonic style ice is wonderful. I installed this unit a month ago and the ice is always cold and dry and it makes ice super fast. This icemaker is a wee bit noisier than the old unit but it makes ice so fast that it doesnt run long. And even then you only hear it if everything else is quiet in the house...something rare in my house ;)

no if you have a drain that is no more than 12 inches off the floor you can gravity drain it or drain it into a condensation pump

The unit features a gravity drain, so a pump drain is optional but recommended. The Ice-O-Matic Pump Kit comes highly recommended.
Details:
If I order the drain pump, does it come installed? I want to order this item but haven't worked out the installation location yet so I am unsure if I need the pump.If it does not come installed, is it something I could order later and install myself?
