Soleus 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner & Heater w/ Dual Hose - White

Keep your home cool or warm with the Soleus 14,000 BTU Portable Dual-Hose AC w/ Heater (LX-140) and stave off the summer heat or freezing winter. This portable AC offers a powerful 14,000 BTU of cooling that can go virtually anywhere you need it to, thanks to its virtually light design and small, compact size. Because this portable air conditioner features dual motors and a dual tube design, it circulates fresh air better and more efficiently than most other portable ACs. The built-in auto restart function allows for the unit to restart flawlessly after it loses power due to outages or power surges.

This air conditioning unit offers many more features than a lot of the other ones on the market today. The wireless programmable remote allows you to change the air speed and direction from all the way across the room, so you won't have to leave your comfortable couch or chair to feel more of the air.

A built-in 24 hour timer with memory allows you to power the AC unit on and off without even being around it. This lets you cool down your home before you even get back from work or running errands. The dehumidifier function removes up to 60 pints of moisture from the air per day, keeping the room cooler and less humid, while the three (3) speed oscillating fan circulates the air all around the room. Perfect for any home or office in need of AC, this portable air conditioner will keep you cool and satisfied.

  • 24 Hour Timer:

Schedule the AC to power on or off while you aren't there to cool down your place before you get home

  • Remote Control:

Including a remote control that allows you to change air speed and direction without getting up

  • Simple Venting:

Venting your portable air conditioner is a simple three step process, and your purchase includes all the necessary materials-- Simply connect the vent hoses to the back of the unit, remove the cap from the window vent kit and connect it to the exhaust hoses

  • Auto-Restart:

protects the AC unit from sudden power outages and surges while allowing it to turn back on flawlessly with little interruption

    Soleus 14,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner & Heater w/ Dual Hose 4.2 5 22 31
Two Years of Thumbs up For us to explain how great this unit is, its important to mention in what an awful situation we placed it in. We bought this unit because we lived in perhaps one of the worst conditions possible due to our jobs, in a town where there is zero construction because its being left behind we were only able to find a house so old that not even the owner knew when it was constructed. We didnt know how long we would be there. The temperatures in the area during hot moths are in the 100s, and in the cold months we hit freezing points of -0 (and below), our pets nearly died. We were provided a wall gas heater and a swamp cooler, both of which made zero difference for a 700 sq foot house. We bought this unit after we were hit by a horrible freeze that disabled half of the town and surrounding cities, bursting pipes and freezing most of everyone's outside plants. Frost was inside our windows, it was unbearable. Then the heat began to roll in after that closing in on the 100s in just a few short weeks. When this unit arrived, we needed help desperately and it delivered. For a house that had zero insulation, where heat and cold rose from the floor and came in through all windows...this unit saved us. Now that we moved out of that horrid place, we have it running in a house twice the size and it obviously performs a lot better due to the condition of the house, but what is most impressive to us is that we bought it in 2011, and its 2013. It only got to rest during this past winter since the new house has an excellent heater, but we just installed it as its beginning to get hot again (90s) and its working like we just bought it. This unit not only made our living arrangements livable, it was a true savior in both heat and cold. I recommend this unit to everyone who asks us how we lived through that, or how they can make their living arrangements better because we tested it as much as a unit of this proportion and specs can be tested. We love it! May 3, 2013
LX-140 Great Buy Installation straight forward - the hardest part is attaching the ducting to the 'screw-on' ducting mounts. The unit is much quieter than my wife's floor standing, oscillating fan. We have a large master bed room and the unit cools it no problem. Temp outside 95 degreees with 90% humidity. After 3 weeks of daily/nightly operation no water drainage issues. I am super pleased as is my wife. August 8, 2012
Versitile & Powerful for 500 sq ft area I purchased this product with the expectation of cooling off my house. I had hoped to turn my furnace fan on and distribute the cool air through the entire house. However, I was not realistic in my expectations. This product will do exactly what they say it will. 500 sq ft area or slightly more is the limit of it's ability. But be sure to take into consideration the humidity and temperature of your area. I live in the Atlanta area. VERY hot and VERY humid. I had to keep the machine at Max cooling to get the temp down to something livable. But during the hottest time of the year it could not do much more then get the area down to 79 at best. I suspect it was because I was trying to move the cool air around the entire house with the furnace fans and box fans. So I made it work a lot harder. Taking this into consideration the product did admirably well. It cannot be expected to take the place of a 3 ton air conditioner. The controls are a bit difficult to set. And it did not seem to be able to retain my settings once there was a power outage. But since I left it on at Max all the time it did not matter to me much. During the cold season I found this unit to warm up the area very quickly. Wonderful heater! However there is, in my opinion a major design flaw that makes me think the manufacturer desperately needs to improve this product. The unit will indeed heat up the house, but it also dehumidifies the warm air that it is bringing into the house. This is good, but there is a 5 pint reservoir which must be emptied when it is filled up. The unit will cease to function until you do so. But here is where the design flaw enters in... They give you a little tray to empty the water into. The tray is about 1/4 of an inch deep and the drain tube is not much more then 1/2 inch above the floor! The tray would have to be emptied 20-30 times before you can conclude the process. You end up getting most of the water on the floor! To expect the end user to drain the reservoir in the manner they suggest is ridicules. I found that the this machine can ONLY be drained in a certain way unless you want to cause a total mess. To drain it you must do one of two things... 1) build a stand that will take the unit off the floor so that you can attach a drain tube to it and drain it into a container large enough to hold the 5 pints; or 2) use a shop vac that sucks up water and put the hose right at the drainage tube when you pull out the stopper. I have an old Rainbow vacuum cleaner I use and it drains the water without getting it all over the floor. If you are willing to use either of these solutions then this unit is for you. I have found that on humid, cold days I need to drain it every 24 hours. So obviously the Air conditioner stand would be the better solution. All in all it is an excellent unit if you can get around the design flaw. It is so good a unit that I have to recommend it to friends as long as you understand what it's limitations and design flaws are. I hope this helps you with your decision making process. Not only is the product great... the logistics are impressive. The packaging was in great shape... I cannot comment on the electric efficiency, because I haven't got a electric bill. October 1, 2010

Yes. Both vents for the most effiecient cooling nad heating. One hose is required. It vents more heat out of the hoses than cool air into the room. Not venting would end up heating the room.

These units need to vent the heat outside the room you're trying to cool or it won't lower the temperature of the room one degree.

The window kit included with the unit is typically the easiest way to vent, but you can be creative. You can vent out through a wall, ceiling, even a floor if you have to, any way that you can move the heat out of the room while preventing it from coming back in.

Comes with both a dual and a single hose window bezels along with hoses and all fittings. Hoses are about 6 feet long. Shorter runs are more efficient.

I'm thinking of purchasing 3 Soleus LX-140 portable
air conditioning units. My only option is to go through the walls for venting and outside air intake. Is there a kit available for this purpose? Please let me know what options I may have.

I cut the window panel sockets and screwed tem to a plywood panel that I fit to work with my slider window.
A friend used clothe dryer style vents through his wall to vent. Hard to find the 5" vent hose. May need to mail order that as dryers are usually 4".

Richard, there is no off the shelf wall venting kit for portable air conditioners, but what many of our customers have done is to purchase a dryer vent kit at their local hardware store.

Keep in mind is that while this hose is around 5" in diameter, a dryer vent is about 4 inches. You would need to clamp or tape the exhaust hose to the dryer vent kit connection.

You would want a drain hose. I think the rocking motion of the boat might cause water to spill from the condensate tank.

The BTU's for this unit will be able to fully cool that square footage without issue as long as the room is not open to the air. It will function much more efficiently in a closed room.

A drain house would help eliminate the need for the drain pan but I would attempt to use the unit with the drain pan first to determine if the drain hose is necessary.

The capacity of this unit should be sufficient for one room of this size, using one of the windows to install the vent system that comes included would be able to take out hot air for the AC to fully cool down the room or use the same principle to heat up the room.
