EdgeStar 21 Bottle Dual Zone Stainless Steel Wine Cooler

Extremely pleased
I have only had the cooler a week, but initial impression is extremely favorable. Easy to set up (only had to install handle), attractive design, excellent quality especially for the price, great value. After initial cool-down, the cooling fan is very quiet and unobtrusive. Would certainly recommend based upon initial experience.

Great cooler. Better than Koldfront or any of the others. Would choose Edge Star over any of the other brands.

ALMOST PERFECT!
THE ONLY problems I encountered was that the AC plug was not a wall hugger as found on many refrigerators, thus I had to purchace a hard to find adapter from Amazon.
ALSO, the leveling screws on the unit's bottom were WAY much too short, compared to other leveling screws on refrigerators, which caused me to have to resort to adding a piece of 3/8" plastic between it and floor to balance the unit.
(Just a side-note; the unit is NOT "silent" as both fans run constantly, but they are really not a problem as they are the common "whisper-fans" as used in many electronic applications.)
Bottom Line: I'm happy with this wine cooler!

Exceeded expectations
The cooler arrived in a timely manner and it was easy to unpack. The only assembly required was attaching the handle to the door and that was a no-brainer! I found the correct dual zone settings on the Internet and setting them on the cooler was very simple. I am having so much fun experimenting with wines now that I have the capacity (21 bottles). My first bottle came out of the cooler (a white wine) and it seemed to be cooled to the temperature I like although I may set the temerature on top just a little cooler in the future. Love it.

A:
We had a cabinet built for ours and I left about a 1 inch clearance on the top and bottom and about 1/2" on each side. It's actually about 1/4" on the side with the handle and 3/4" on the right to give clearance for the door to open. It looks great and has been running for a year so far with no problems. I was prepared to make some vents if needed but so far it's working great with no issues. I would mention that the cabinet to the side and top do stay fairly warm but hasn't been an issue.A:
We installed ours in a cabionet space, making sure that there was a 2" space all around for ventingA:
Thank you for your question. Thermoelectric units are not meant to be built-in flush under cabinets. If you put them under a cabinet they will need 2-3 inches of clearance on the sides, back and top of the unit to allow proper air flow. They do not vent in front. If you would like to build in a wine cooler with no clearance needed, please visit our built-in section.

Sorry, I don't know that answer ... Check it out on a Wine Cooler site.A:
Thank you for your question. I have listed below some pros and cons about each type of wine cooler.Thermoelectric Wine Cooler:
Pros:
Less Expensive - the most expensive component of a refrigeration unit is the compressor so eliminating that allows these to be less expensive.
Quite Operation - the loudest component of a refrigeration unit is the compressor so, once again, elimination that allows these to be less noisy than a compressor based unit.
Less Vibration - due to the lack of compressor in these units they have less of a vibration. Some wine drinkers find the lack of vibration an optimal condition for long term preservation of wine.
Cons:
Temperature Consistency - These units are affected more by the ambient temperature of their environment than a compressor unit. They typically can only go, at most, around 30 degrees below their environment. So if the room they are in is at 80 degrees, the unit will only be able to get down to 50 degrees.
Life Expectancy - The life expectancy of thermoelectric units tend to be shorter than compressor based units.
Compressor Based Wine Cooler:
Pros:
Temperature consistency - compressors will be less affected by the ambient temperature of their environment (although they are still affected especially in extreme temperatures).
Life Expectancy - Compressor units will tend to have a longer life span than thermoelectric units.
Cons:
Price - compressors cost more than the nodes used for cooling in the thermoelectric units and therefore are typically more expensive.
Noise Level - these units will make more noise than a thermoelectric unit. They will be similar to the sound a household refrigerator makes. Some people, like myself, barely notice it, but others that are more sensitive to sound might be more aware of the noise of the compressor coming on and off.
Hope that helps.

No they are not adjustable. All of the bottles that we have in there are 750 ml. You can always remove one of the wire racks so a bigger bottle will fit.Details:

All our shelves are stainless - we love it!A:
The unit includes 6 fully removable scalloped chrome shelves but does not come with wooden shelves. Some other units come with wooden shelves and that might be where the confusion is coming in.If you would like to inquire about adding/upgrading the shelving in this unit please give our product experts a call at:

Countertop wine refrigerators are great for those who don't have the floor space or an area under their countertop for a wine refrigerator. Some can store multiple bottles.
Wine chillers can chill a bottle in as fast as 5 minutes. They can sit on a table during dinner for easy access without being in the way, and moved back to the counter for storage afterward. Some models even come with a 12 Volt cigarette lighter plug if camping or tailgating.
Built-in wine refrigerators are a good replacement for outdated trash compactors or any other older undercounter appliance in a kitchen or wet bar, making it perfect if you want to free up some floor space. Units include a front vent to dissipate compressor heat during operation; they also come in a variety of colors and sizes to fit anything from 15 to over 150 bottles. Its stainless steel or wood trim and doors add an elegant look to any space around the house. Always position your refrigerator away from direct sunlight or any heat-producing sources, like a dishwasher, as this will force units to work harder to keep cool. Placement near an appliance that may cause vibration such a trash compactor is also detrimental to sediments.
A single zone wine refrigerator refers to a unit with only one thermostat control, the temperature control knob is often located on the back of the refrigerator. You may store both red and white wines together in a single zone unit if separate zones are unavailable. By placing your red wines in the top shelves of the unit you will be storing them in the warmest section of the cooler. There is usually only a 5 to 8 degree temperature difference between the top and bottom of a single zone wine refrigerator. Ultimately, your red wines will be too cold or your whites too warm depending on how you choose to set the master thermostat of the unit.
A multiple zone wine refrigerator refers to units with 2 or more thermostat controls. Most coolers come with digital controls to adjust the different temperatures. The best way to accommodate both red and white wines within the same unit is to purchase a dual or triple zone wine cooler. Typically, white wines should be stored in the temperature range of 50ºF to 62ºF and red wines will be stored between 58ºF to 68ºF. A multiple zone cooler will allow you to maintain distinct and separate temperature zones within the same cooler. Many times these units will offer a larger storage capacity for one style of wine over the other so be sure to purchase the unit that best suits your individual drinking preference. For triple zone coolers, you can keep your ready-to-serve whites and reds at their appropriate temperatures and in the middle zone keep wines that are still aging at their correct temperature (50-60º F).
