Specialized medical refrigerators are important to have for most modern health care facilities. These appliances have many purposes, including safe and secure storage of vaccines, blood plasma, medical specimens, pharmaceuticals and various supplies. A countertop lab refrigerator is a good choice for medical facilities that have limited space or that need easy, quick access to refrigerated items. Living Direct offers a wide choice of advanced, space-saving lab refrigerators.
Common Medical Appliance Features
Medical refrigerators are designed differently from standard model refrigerators built for homes and restaurants in several important ways. They must be extremely dependable, they must be able to maintain constant temperatures to minimize the risk of bacterial cross contamination in items, and they must be sterile and safely store explosive materials. To maintain a steady temperature, medical refrigerators have a fan that circulates air. The fan is designed to stop when the door is opened to prevent cold air from escaping, thus causing a temperature fluctuation. Furthermore, laboratory refrigerators have carefully designed divisions between compartments in order to keep stored items from polluting and compromising each other.
Medical refrigerators come in four standard types. Standard lab, explosion-proof, Chromatography, and blood bank refrigerators. Standard lab models securely cool stored samples and other items while maintaining a consistent temperature chosen by medical personnel. Blood bank refrigerators must hold steady temperatures and also display them. These appliances usually have specially designed compartments to reduce the chances of the cross contamination in specimens. A third class of medical refrigerator, often called explosion-proof, is designed to safely store flammable and dangerous materials. Chromatography refrigerators are especially designed to store delicate materials used in research experiments, maintaining specific, stable temperatures over time.
Compact Medical Design with Superior Security Features
A countertop lab refrigerator is perfect for smaller labs with limited facilities. Countertop models also work well for laboratories that need frequent easy access to stored specimens and materials. Countertop medical refrigerators come in a variety of models with specific features like solid or glass doors with locking capability, for increased security, and leveling legs.
Countertop lab refrigerators are becoming increasingly popular as medical facilities adapt to fit the changing needs and nature of the modern health care industry. These space-saving appliances offer the same safe and sophisticated storage as full-sized medical refrigerators. They allow smaller facilities access to safe and secure storage, plus they are also great choices for larger laboratories that need easy access to certain stored items. Security protocols will not be compromised so you don’t have to worry about trading convenience for safety. A countertop lab refrigerator is a great option for facilities that need multiple compact cooling units with locks.
A countertop lab refrigerator is a smart, future-oriented purchase for many health care facilities. These models offer the same sophisticated, dependable and secure storage as do full-sized models without taking up valuable floor space. Today’s health care industry is rapidly evolving, and smaller but advanced equipment like countertop lab refrigerators are becoming the modern standard. They provide modern medical professionals with the performance and safety features that their work requires.
General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
