Some rooms just do not have the proper air conditioning to make them comfortable for consistent use. A practical solution for this type of setting, whether in residential or commercial buildings, is to set up a portable air conditioner. The Portable air conditioners with less than 10,000 British Thermal Units (BTUs) are able to treat spaces up to 450 square feet.
Cooling Efficiency with Minimum Effort
Portable air conditioners are a convenient way to make any space in your home or office more comfortable when the heat outside rises. Whether you are looking to supplement your central air or only need to cool one small space, a portable air conditioner is a lightweight, energy efficient solution. Why cool an entire house or building when you can select the right temperature for a specific room or area. Portable air conditioners with less than 10,000 BTUs are easy to use and require very little installation.
They must have a way to vent the air through a hose that connects to a window space, but the installation is simple with a minimal invasion of window space so that you can keep as much light and view as possible. Since proximity to windows is important for the functionality of the portable air conditioner unit, be sure that you have a clear area near a window in the room in which you plan to place the unit. Many of these units are also able to drain the excess moisture through the hosing or with a specific removable drainage system. All air conditioners pull moisture out of the air as they cool, so portable air conditioners have to be drained occasionally either manually or with a hose. Most of the small units available through Living Direct offer some self-evaporative designs to make it even more convenient to use a small portable air conditioner.
Smaller portable air conditioners like those made by Friedrich, Danby, and EdgeStar are affordable and easy to transport from one spot to another. Most of these devices weigh around 60 pounds and come in sleek dimensions that are around 30 inches high on average. These air conditioners are much smaller than window mounted air conditioners and have the advantage of using less energy while producing less white noise. Since there are likely to be months in the year that you will not need your portable air conditioner, these units are easily moved on castors or with accessible handles to make them convenient to transport and store.
Getting your room to be just the right temperature with small portable air conditioners is easy because of the digital thermostat controls. Many units also feature handy remote controls to allow you to adjust the temperature without getting up to manually adjust. Another design to look for is automatic shut off so that you do not have to worry about the machine running longer than you are in the room. The automatic shut off features are another way that these small air conditioner systems save you money.
When you purchase a small portable air conditioner from Living Direct, you can have the satisfaction of knowing that your low BTU unit is the right unit for the job. These small air conditioners are not designed for huge spaces, but having cooler air in the 200-450 square foot areas they do cool makes a big difference for those within that area.
General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
