Lab Chest Freezers: Safe Storage for Critical Samples
Freezers work by running a cooling refrigerant vapor through tubes that keep the temperature in the freezing chamber consistently low. A deep freezer is a type of standalone device, meaning it is more energy efficient than dual-compartment devices such as the refrigerator/freezer combos found in most kitchens. Chest freezers are low to the ground, making them more efficient than other kinds of freezers that are higher up, because the refrigerant travels less distance in its cycling activity. A medical chest freezer is a type of chest freezer unit that involves multiple features that are specifically useful for the work done in a laboratory setting. We bring you products from highly reputable brands such as Summit and So-Low, so you can be sure that your device will do everything you need to maintain safe temperature levels for everything you need to store.
Why Get a Lab Chest Freezer
If you think you can get by in a medical or laboratory setting with a traditional freezer used in homes, even a highly efficient deep-freeze unit, you’ll likely be making a major mistake. Unlike typical freezers, these special units are designed for the storage of highly important chemicals and medical materials that could be volatile or be in danger of being stolen. They require a very careful degree of maintenance.
One thing you will notice is that every freezer we offer has been tested in the Electronics Testing Lab and has passed that test, allowing each one to be fully certified for sanitary use, as a symbol of the product’s safety. These units come in various sizes, enabling you to make the perfect choice for your lab’s specific needs. They range in sizes from 3 cubic feet to 27 cubic feet, so any size laboratory would benefit from perusing the selection offered here. Many of the units have digital temperature and humidity control panels, allowing for easy manipulation of the important factors that need to be precisely controlled to maintain the integrity of the items being stored.
For an added degree of safety, these devices come with locking doors that can only be opened by certified personnel, as well as a sensitive alarm system that will trigger if anyone tries to break into the freezer to take important items. To prevent the buildup of frost, each unit has a manual defrost setting that will keep things slick and at the right temperature, while maximizing the internal dimensions of the freezer. Every freezer comes with a one year warranty for added measure. Even more impressive, the compressor units all come with five year warranties, so even if something goes wrong for just about any reason, it can easily be replaced to keep your unit working as good as new.
As you can see, only the most superior lab chest freezers are available with the line of products offered here. If you truly value the stability of the operations in your lab facility and want the optimal level of protection for your items that need to be stored at cool temperatures, these freezers are just what you need.As you can see, only the most superior lab chest freezers are available with the line of products offered here. General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
