Explosion-Proof Refrigerators: Keeping Your Materials Safe From Fire
A lot of important and sensitive materials are dealt with in the scientific and medical fields. Keeping things safe and in the proper condition can sometimes be the difference between life and death. Of course, the substances that are used in a lab have their own unique properties that must be paid attention. Sometimes these substances can be dangerous under certain conditions. This often means that they need to be kept in a properly controlled environment. Having the right equipment to do this is of paramount importance. You need explosion-proof refrigerators and freezers to keep your sensitive materials and your lab environment safe at all times.
How You Will Benefit From A Fire-Proof Refrigerator
These refrigerators have been carefully designed to store all kinds of sensitive substances. Whether you are trying to protect them from outside circumstances, or you are trying to guard against the materials themselves, We have a variety of solutions that will keep them safe. Flammable-proof refrigerators are perfect for storing all sorts of things that are susceptible to catching fire and need to have their temperature maintained.
Many of these units come equipped with a spark free interior, making them extra safe. This means that there are no interior fans, lights or other accoutrements which could throw out a spark and cause something to catch fire or explode. These explosion-proof refrigerators may also be plug free in order to further prevent any sparking within the lab environment. This means that they will require a hard wire installation when they are brought to your facility. Another way that fires are prevented by this equipment is by fully sealing all of the wiring. In several models the thermostat is placed on the exterior, making the temperature easier to manage at all times. Despite all precautions, sometimes dangerous things happen in the lab environment and these fridges are designed to protect their contents from any exterior fires and explosions that may occur.
Explosion-Proof & Designed for Flammable Materials
Like all important medical equipment, these too have been tested and verified to ensure that they meet OSHA requirements. These units also meet NFPA guidelines 45 and 70. The walls and the doors of these storage compartments have been insulated with high density urethane foam, which can absorb the shock of a potential explosion and help stop any fire from spreading. The entire structure is built with strength in mind, reinforced in order to protect the contents and your laboratory space. The door also has a magnetic gasket so that it can be tightly sealed, keeping the contents safe from temperature fluctuation. Due to their high level of specialization, these explosion-proof refrigerators and freezers are not usually meant for use in general laboratories. They should be used by professionals in specific situations where flammable and other potentially dangerous materials are being handled. The primary benefit of obtaining this equipment for your laboratory space is the safety it will provide, both for you and your materials.
When volatile substances are in play, you need the tools to match their strength. This includes the storage that you use as well. Flammable proof refrigerator and freezers are made to meet the high standards that your laboratory deserves. This could be the perfect fit for many specialized workplaces. General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
