Specialized medical refrigerators are key components in many modern health care facilities, pharmacies and scientific laboratories. They are needed for safely and securely storing a variety of materials, including vaccines, medicines, blood plasma and other blood components, medical specimens, fragile pharmaceuticals and valuable samples. An advanced, large capacity medical refrigerator is made to meet the demanding storage needs of even the busiest medical location.
Complex Medical Appliances Make Storage Easy
Medical refrigerators are specialized, and they differ from standard refrigerators for homes and restaurants in several ways. They have to be sterile, and they must dependably hold a constant temperature over time in order to do away with or at least greatly reduce the risk of contamination of the stored items. Lab refrigerators must also hold steady temperatures to keep volatile materials from exploding, and many models include temperature displays. Medical refrigerators use a fan to maintain constant temperatures. The fan circulates the air and stops when the door is open in order to prevent cold air from escaping, thus causing temperature fluctuation. Lab refrigerators also have specialized compartments that are designed to keep stored items from contaminating each other.
In addition to specialized design and operation standards, medical refrigerators also have built-in safety and monitoring features, such as locking mechanisms for the outer door as well as for inner compartments, temperature alarms and data logging systems. Some medical refrigerators have solid doors made of material such as stainless steel, which can be sanitized, but many have glass doors for easy visual inspection.
Medical refrigerators are generally divided into four standard types. Regular or standard lab models safely cool and securely store items at a consistent temperature. Blood bank refrigerators must maintain specific temperatures set by medical professionals, and many of these models also display the temperature. These models often have partitions that are carefully designed to reduce the incidence of sample contamination. Explosion-proof lab refrigerators are made to safely store combustible and volatile materials at precise temperatures. Chromatography refrigerators are often found in science laboratories, as they are made for storing fragile materials used in research experiments. They are designed to stably hold specific temperatures over time.
A large capacity medical refrigerator is a vital piece of equipment for many medical facilities. To meet the wide variety of needs, large capacity models come in multiple sizes and designs. Some available options include double or triple sliding doors, casters, adjustable shelving, interior lights and much more.
Medical refrigerators are designed to provide the highest level of safety and function possible for users. These specialized appliances are made first with safety in mind, because the items and materials they are storing are vital to the well-being of humanity. They are also made, though, with busy medical personnel in mind, with their designs offering easy access to stored materials and quick ways to monitor temperatures.
In short, a large capacity medical refrigerator is a key component of many of today’s health care facilities. These specialized appliances offer safe and secure storage of even the most fragile specimens and pharmaceuticals. Let Living Direct show you how the future of medical refrigeration is here for you today.
General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
