Undercounter Medical Refrigerator: Save Space With a Built-In Fridge
Medical and laboratory refrigerators are vital pieces of equipment for most modern health care facilities. They are used to securely and safely storing plasma and other blood components, lifesaving vaccines and many other pharmaceutical supplies. An increasing number of medical professionals, labs and hospitals are choosing to use undercounter medical refrigerators, and it is easy to see why. Designed to save space, these sophisticated refrigerators are built into the lab and feature all of the advanced features of larger medical fridges. Ideal for smaller labs or any facility that is lacking space for larger medical appliances. Undercounter models are also great choices for facilities that may need to purchase more than one medical refrigerator.
Why You Should Consider An Undercounter Medical Refrigerator
Medical refrigerators are very different from standard refrigerator models used in homes and restaurants. In order to operate effectively these appliances must be completely hygienic and thoroughly reliable. They must maintain a consistent temperature over time, in order to minimize the risk of bacterial contamination and prevent the explosion of volatile materials.
Laboratory refrigerators circulate air to maintain a steady temperature and are equipped with particular fans and compressors for this purpose. When the door is opened the fans turn off to prevent the cold air from escaping. Other features of these appliances include, divided compartments to prevent cross contamination among stored items.
There are four standard types of medical refrigerators. Standard lab refrigerators safely cool and store samples and are designed to consistently maintain a chosen temperature. Explosion-proof models are designed to safely store hazardous chemicals and flammable materials. Blood bank refrigerators must reliably maintain and display appropriate temperatures and contain separate compartments that reduce the cross-contamination risk when storing various samples. Finally, chromatography refrigerators are made for research experiments where materials must be safely stored at specific temperatures that remain stable over time.
The Benefits of Having an Undercounter Fridge In Your Lab
An undercounter medical refrigerator is an excellent choice for small laboratories where space and money are limited. Smaller and compact in size, these refrigerators are designed to fit snug under your countertops. This allows you more space to focus on work, while having the right equipment to help you get the job done.
Different types of locking mechanisms are available to ensure that all security protocols are met. These units are very cost effective because they allow you purchase and store what is needed. You don’t always have to get a more expensive large capacity free standing medical refrigerator. These undercounter models come with both solid and glass doors. Often available with leveling legs to make getting the perfect fit easy. Each lab and medical facility can choose the appliance that works best for its particular needs.
Due to its space-saving benefits and advanced cooling features, an undercounter medical fridge may be the best choice for many different health care facilities. These sophisticated appliances continue to grow in popularity because they keep the same safety mechanisms, storage options and reliable temperature controls as countertop fridges or larger freestanding models. They give medical professionals all of the product performance, complete with the safety features they need, without requiring huge rooms or taking up valuable floor space.
General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
