A kitchen island range is the ultimate in cooking freedom. With the ability to move freely around your entire range with no walls in place means that you can easily access every single burner on your range without having to reach over other hot pots or boiling waters. But having your range in the middle of your kitchen means that cooking smells, smokes, vapors, and odors have that much more space to linger. They’ll naturally float in all directions, filling your kitchen and house with remnants of recipes long after you’ve finished cooking. A range hood can help with all of that. They’ll quietly whir to life as you cook, capturing vapors from boiling, steams and smokes from sautéing, and more as they all float upward towards your kitchen’s ceiling.
Island Range Hoods that Stand Out
Just as island ranges are the standout feature of an airy, open design kitchen, so too are the island range hoods that go with them. These centerpieces aren’t like their more common peers that hide under cabinets or inside of wood overlays. Island range hoods don’t have a place to hide. They stick out, by design: extending down from a kitchen ceiling like an industrial stalactite. Because of this, an island range isn’t just a piece of kitchen equipment designed to help you cook. It’s a fashion piece: one that ties a room together with a stylish presence while offering high-quality functionality to your island kitchen. The island range hoods Living Direct offers are sure to stand out with an eye-catching appearance. With a variety of sleek designs, these hoods have no need to hide. They’ll add to your cooking process, and they’ll add to your kitchen style.
Breathe Easy with an Island Range Hood
While an island range hood is a style piece, it’s also a boon to the air around you as you cook. During the cooking process, steam, vapors, and odors move up into the air of your kitchen. Without a range hood, they linger, slowly spreading out into the entirety of your kitchen and eventually your entire house, staying until they finally dissipate. If you’ve ever accidentally burned something in the oven—you know how long that burnt smell can last.
A range hood is an important part of dealing with odors and smokes that linger. Their powerful fans come on with the quick press of a button, as they quickly and expertly collect and trap skyward smokes and smells. Additionally, range hoods are a perfect way to deal with aerosol grease. During the cooking process, grease particles naturally float up and mingle with the air while hot, before cooling down and eventually settling into a greasy coat that will leave your appliances and countertops feeling sticky, greasy, and less-than-new. Our range hood fans are powerful enough that they suck up these invasive grease particles before depositing them into contained grease traps. There, away from your pristine kitchen surfaces, the particles will harden and sit for easy cleanup on a regular basis.
General Summary of Proposition 65
The “California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986” (more commonly referred to as ‘Proposition 65’)
was enacted to ensure that customers be properly warned when a product contains a substance known to cause cancer or
reproductive harm. The law requires the State of California to publish and maintain (annually) a list of substances
to be available to the general public. Additionally, the law requires that businesses properly notify residents of
the State of California about the presence of these substances in the products they purchase, or that may be present
in their homes, workplaces, or that otherwise may be released into the environment. The specific list contains a wide
range of naturally occurring and synthetic substances including manufacturing and construction chemicals, pesticides,
tobacco, food-additives, solvents, household products, drugs and byproducts created from a specific product usage.
You may have noticed the below warning label on our products, or on products from other manufacturers. The warning
has become increasingly commonplace and oftentimes raises questions about why the warning exists, and what it means
to a customer. The warning itself is just one of many requirements for businesses operating in and/or selling products
to customers in the the State of California. The warning does not mean that a product that includes the warning will
cause cancer or reproductive harm, but rather it simply is provided in order to educate the consumer that a substance
may exist. A large number of the substances listed under Proposition 65 have been in regular use for many years
without any documented harm to a consumer. This is due to the low concentrations and minimal exposure that actually
occurs with these substances. Those chemicals, however, have been determined by the State of California to be listed
as potentially harmful.
I don’t live in California. Why did my product include this warning?
In order to ensure compliance with Proposition 65 requirements we have determined that all products manufactured by
Living Direct Inc, including products sold under the EdgeStar, Avallon and Koldfront brands, should include the
above-referenced warning label. This labeling requirements exists for all of our products regardless of the
location / destination to which the product is ultimately sold and/or shipped.
We believe that our products, when used as designed, are not harmful and as such this warning is provided
in order to properly conform to the requirements of Proposition 65.
